A Milestone for Oncology in Greece: The National Cancer Registry Officially Presented

February 4th, 2025, marks a milestone date for public health and oncology care in Greece. The National Cancer Registry was officially presented, a landmark initiative for the registration, monitoring, and research of cancer in the country.

The Registry, a long-standing request from both physicians and patients, is now in productive operation, heralding a new era in the recording, monitoring, and analysis of cancer data in Greece. Its implementation will enable the holistic monitoring of patient journeys, the extraction of valuable insights for research, and the design of more effective health policies.

The creation of such a crucial registry underscores the need for structured, high-quality, and reliable clinical data. As a specialized electronic health record (EHR) system for oncology, oncoEHR is designed to meet this exact challenge.

We empower healthcare professionals to accurately and easily record essential data, ensuring compatibility and interoperability with national platforms like the new Registry.

The Registry was presented by Dr. Konstantinos Kostikas, with a prologue by the Minister of Health. You can watch the full presentation from the event, broadcast by the Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELL.O.K.), at the link below:

For a detailed presentation of the National Cancer Registry by our team, you can watch the video on our official YouTube channel:

We are closely monitoring these developments and remain dedicated to providing technological solutions that enhance the quality of oncology care and support critical national initiatives.

oncoEHR & e-Prescription: The Integration That Upgrades Your Clinical Practice

We are excited to announce the full integration of oncoEHR with the national e-Prescription system (HDІKA). Understanding the value of your time, we have built a bridge that automates procedures, minimizes errors, and provides a complete patient overview at the click of a button.

The new functionality allows you to:

  • Automatically retrieve all prescriptions: View detailed or aggregated data for all prescriptions you have issued for your patients directly within the oncoEHR environment.

  • Create all your patient records with a single click: When the system detects a prescription for a patient not yet registered in oncoEHR, it prompts you to create their record automatically by pulling their data directly from the national system.

  • Populate demographics without typing: When creating a new patient file, simply enter their national insurance number (AMKA) and select “Retrieve from HDІKA”. All essential demographic data is filled in automatically and accurately.

  • Analyze data: Gain valuable insights through diagrammatic displays of the active substances and formulations you prescribe most frequently.

The security of your data is our priority: Your personal HDІKA credentials are encrypted and stored exclusively on your local device. They are never transferred to the oncoEHR database, ensuring absolute privacy and protection.

Our goal is to continuously evolve oncoEHR, providing smart tools that free you from time-consuming administrative tasks and allow you to focus on what matters most: your patient care.

A Successful Showcase at the 7th Hellenic Oncology Conference!

The oncoEHR team has successfully concluded its participation in the 7th Hellenic Oncology Conference, held in Thessaloniki at the Macedonia Palace Hotel from April 24-27.

Our presence at this premier scientific event, organized by the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (HeSMO) and the Hellenic Society for Radiation Oncology (HSRO), provided us with an invaluable opportunity to connect with the heart of the oncology community. Our discussions with you about daily clinical practice and the use of oncoEHR were incredibly insightful.

The conference theme, “Human touch in the digital era,” perfectly mirrors our philosophy: creating technological tools that empower physicians, automate processes, and allow them to dedicate more time to their patients.[1]

We extend our warmest thanks to all of you who visited us, shared your thoughts, and provided us with valuable feedback. Your ideas are our guide for the future of oncoEHR.

A big thank you also to the organizers for a flawless and engaging conference. We look forward to seeing you at the next one

Similar reports may be produced to assist in scheduling of patient treatment at clinic level

Protection of Patient’s Privacy: oncoEHR’s privacy in design feature assists doctors and health organizations adhere to the GDPR regulation. Features like encryption (for persisted and in-transit data), complete auditing of user activity, easy export of personal information in human-readable and machine-readable format are useful tools to ensure protection of patient privacy.
